Enovation Consulting in collaboration with Professor Paolo Taticchi, Professor of Strategy and Sustainability at UCL School of Management, has published the fourth edition of the Sustainable Circuits Index™  (SCI).

In line with previous iterations of the index, the 2024 SCI™ is based on 21 carefully calibrated sustainability performance criteria across seven dimensions of sustainability:

  • Certifications

  • Accreditations

  • Awards

  • Environmental performance

  • Social performance

  • Economic impact

  • Sustainability approach and engagement

The data collection and analysis for the SCI™ were conducted by Enovation Consulting, under the guidance of Professor Paolo Taticchi, to ensure research and analytical rigor.

The 2024 SCI™ sees Mugello Circuit take pole position as the world’s most sustainable motorsport circuit, with Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and Silverstone placing second and third respectively.

Temporary Circuits and Special Mentions

Temporary circuits made their debut in this year’s SCI due to the instrumental role they play in a range of motorsport championships. Marina Bay Street Circuit, Delfi Rally Estonia and Rally Sweden took the top three for temporary circuits which are assessed separately to permanent circuits.

The Red Bull Ring was ranked the most improved circuit from last year’s SCI, while Misano World Circuit Simoncelli, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and Circuit de La Sarthe (Le Mans) were honourable mentions

The 2024 SCI clearly shows that motorsports circuits are engaging more with sustainability as more the number of low scores decreased, signifying more circuits beginning their sustainability journey.
